BUSY BEGINNING IN BRITAIN
European shares are a touch lower in the first hour of trading, but the news flow is at the single-stock rather than index level.
The STOXX 600 is 0.2% lower with France's CAC40 off 0.6%, as investors continue to process Sunday's election. .STOXX, .FCHI
The FTSE 100 is up 0.25% .FTSE, outperforming most of the rest of Europe. But it's all really about the company news, and particularly in Britain. Oil and gas giant BP's BP.L shares are down 3.5% after it said weak refining margins and oil trading were likely to dent its second-quarter profit.
British drugmaker Indivior INDV.L shares took an even more dramatic hit and are down 38%, firmly at the bottom of the STOXX 600, after it lowered its profit forecast for the year, while announcing it would discontinue sales of its schizophrenia drug Perseris and cut about 130 jobs.
Also in Britain, recruitment firm Page Group also warned on profits, sending its shares down around 10% and hurting competitors too. Hays HAYS.L Adecco ADEN.S and Randstad RAND.AS are all off between 2.5% and 5%.
