Italy's contested migrant reception centre being built in Albania will be operational from August, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Wednesday, presenting the "tool of deterrence" during a visit to the Balkan country.


ECONOMY

ISTAT releases April retail sales data (0800 GMT).

OECD releases May composite leading indicator data (1000 GMT).

The bank could reorganise its insurance business when it updates its strategy in August, MF reported citing two financial sources, adding analysts are saying it could use its 2 billion euros in excess capital to buy French insurance partner AXA's share in their joint venture.

The bank said on Thursday that total net inflows in May stood at 945.6 million euros.

The automaker on Wednesday said no additional recalls were planned over faulty airbags from a supplier after newspaper Le Parisien reported the company was set to widen recalls for some Citroen models produced between 2009 and 2019.

The TV group controlled by Italy's Berlusconi family, sees its advertising revenue growing 6% in the first half of this year, CEO Pier Silvio Berlusconi said on Wednesday.


FINCANTIERI FCT.MI

Fincantieri Chief Executive Pierroberto Folgiero recently pitched the idea of a tie-up with Thyssenkrupp's defense division, which is currently up for sale, to members of Germany's government, Handelsblatt reported on Wednesday.

(*) The state-controlled group does not need capital to support the company which is "ever more solid", its CEO told daily Il Sole 24 Ore in an interview published on Thursday , referring to the issuance approved to support the recent acquisition of submarine business UAS.

The defence group has called some international investment banks, including UBS, to study the purchase of Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV), according to Corriere della Sera daily. Estimates set the value of IDV at around 750 million euros, but analysts see a higher valuation in light of the multiples for the sector.

Coach Igor Tudor has resigned after less than three months in charge, the Serie A club said on Wednesday. According to multiple media reports, outgoing Verona coach Marco Baroni is a leading candidate to replace him.
