MOSCOW/TOKYO, July 3 (Reuters) -Russia's Sakhalin-2 project has suspended its oil output since June for planned maintenance along with repair works on its LNG plant, two sources familiar with the company's operations said.

According to the sources, the maintenance on Sakhalin-2 oil infrastructure started in the end of June and is expected to last for a few weeks into July.

Sakhalin-2 has shut its LNG plant for an annual maintenance since June 20.

Sakhalin Energy, the project's operator, didn't immediately answer on a Reuters request for a comment.

Most recently a tanker Zaliv Vostok loaded 80,000 metric tons of Sakhalin Blend oil from Prigorodnoye terminal on June 23, while a tanker Zaliv Aniva was loading another cargo of the same size on July 3, LSEG data shows. One of the sources said that the volumes were likely loaded from storage.

Sakhalin Blend oil loadings in July are expected to be below usual three 80,000-metric ton cargoes due to maintenance. Sakhalin Blend oil is mostly sold to Chinese refiners.

Oil output of Sakhalin-2 oil project is around 4 million metric tons per year. According to Sakhalin Island administration, both Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 oil projects are expected to produce 9.8 million tons of crude oil and condensate this year.

Japanese companies Mitsui 8031.T and Mitsubishi 8058.T still jointly own 22.5% of the project, while the Russian state energy giant Gazprom GAZP.MM controls the rest of the company.
