ISTANBUL, July 4 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.

The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 32.55 against the U.S. dollar at 0509 GMT, after closing at 32.5350 on Wednesday.

The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 2.26% higher at 10,682.15 points on Wednesday.


GLOBAL MARKETS

Asia stocks hit 27-month highs on Thursday as softer U.S. data narrowed the odds on a September rate cut there, boosting bonds and commodities while dragging on the dollar.

A holiday in the United States made for thin trading, as investors waited to see just how large a majority the Labour Party might get in the UK election.


ERDOGAN

Turkish President Tayyip Erdoan is in Kazakhstan's capital Astana to attend a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). Erdogan is expected to hold bilateral meetings and attend a session as part of the summit.


CENTRAL BANK

Turkish central bank is determined to bring down inflation and maintain tight policy, its Governor Fatih Karahan told Reuters.


CENBANK DATA

Turkish central bank will announce weekly data on its reserves and foreign holdings of stocks and bonds (1130 GMT).


BANKING SECTOR

The BDDK banking watchdog will publish monthly banking sector data for May (1100 GMT).


REAL EFFECTIVE EXCHANGE RATE

The Central Bank will announce the real effective exchange rate for June. (1130 GMT)
