US Cash Grains-Corn basis steady-weaker, US crop 14% harvested
CHICAGO, Sept 23 (Reuters) -Basis bids for corn were unchanged to lower in the U.S. Midwest on Monday as farmers pressed ahead with harvesting and hedged some of their crops, brokers said.
* Corn futures Cv1 climbed about 3% at the Chicago Board of Trade as soybean futures Sv1 hit a near seven-week peak.
* The corn basis dropped by 4 cents per bushel at a Decatur, Illinois, processor. Basis fell by 10 cents at a Toledo, Ohio, port location and by 5 cents at a river terminal near Davenport, Iowa.
* The U.S. corn harvest was 14% complete as of Sunday, above the five-year average of 11%, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a weekly report.
* The corn crop was 14% harvested in Illinois, above the five-year average of 7%, and 12% harvested in Indiana, compared to the average of 6%, USDA said. Iowa's harvest was 5% complete, matching its average.
* The U.S. soy harvest was 13% complete, above the five-year average of 8%, according to USDA.
* The soybean basis was unchanged to mixed.
