EQUITIES


GLOBAL - MSCI's global equities index was down slightly on Wednesday while the dollar rose and oil prices pared earlier gains, as investors digested U.S. economic data and anxiously waited for Israel's response to Iran's missile attack the previous day.

MSCI's gauge of stocks across the globe .MIWD00000PUS fell 0.56 points, or 0.07%, to 845.31.

NEW YORK - The S&P 500 ended little changed on Wednesday, with technology shares gaining but investors nervous about Middle East tensions and more U.S. labor data due this week.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI rose 39.55 points, or 0.09%, to 42,196.52. The S&P 500 .SPX gained 0.79 points, or 0.01%, at 5,709.54 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC edged up 14.76 points, or 0.08%, to 17,925.12.

The Aussie sat at $0.6882 AUD=D3, having slipped 0.5% overnight and away from a 19-month top of $0.6942.

NEW YORK - Longer-dated U.S. Treasury yields rose on Wednesday after economic data pointed to a stable labor market while investors monitored escalating Middle East hostilities after Iran fired missiles against Israel.

PALM OIL


Malaysian palm oil futures jumped more than 4% on Wednesday, driven by gains in crude oil prices and Chicago soyoil.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for December delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange rose 190 ringgit, or 4.74%, at 4,196 ringgit ($1,006.72) a metric ton at the close, its highest daily gain since July 3, 2023.
