US Cash Grains-Corn, soy bids tick up as demand increases

CHICAGO, Oct 17 (Reuters) -Basis bids for corn and soy rose again on Thursday as demand from elevators and processors increased, with buyers in some regions caught short on supplies, analysts said.
* Soy basis bids increased at an Ohio elevator, Indiana processor and two Midwestern river terminals.
* Corn basis bids increased at an Ohio elevator, two river terminals and an Indiana ethanol plant. The basis decreased at one Indiana ethanol plant.
* Dry weather in the U.S. Midwest has accelerated harvesting, with 47% of the corn crop and 67% of the soybean crop gathered by Sunday, well above the average pace of the last five years, according to the USDA.
* However, the dry end to the summer has slashed soybean yields in some areas and left elevators and processors with less soybeans than expected.
* Most-active corn Cv1 futures were last down 1/2 cent at $4.04-1/4 a bushel and soybean Sv1 futures dropped 2-1/2 cents at $9.77-1/2 around midday.
