Adds details of Lula's interview in paragraphs 3 and 5, impact of discussions on Brazilian real currency in paragraphs 2 and 4
BRASILIA, Nov 6 (Reuters) -Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Wednesday that he cannot discloseany fiscal measures under discussion bythe government because they are not finished yet, according to clips of an interview with local news station Rede TV.
The Brazilian real currency ended up over 1% against the U.S. dollar, reversing morning losses following Donald Trump's U.S. election victory, as Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said the governmenthad concluded talks on the measures.
"We can no longer put the weight on the shoulders of the people most in need every time we need to cut something," Lula said in the interview.
The measures are aimed at easing fiscal concerns that had helped push Brazil's real to its weakest level since March 2021 in recent sessions.
In the interview, Lula said he is "seriously" discussing the measures with government officials, adding he "knows market's speculative appetite".
