ISTANBUL, Oct 9 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 34.28 against the U.S. dollar at 0451 GMT, compared with a close of 34.25 on Tuesday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.15% higher at 9,044.89 points on Tuesday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Chinese shares fell on Wednesday and commodities nursed sharp losses as investors tempered enthusiasm for a Chinese economic recovery, while broader markets steadied on expectations that the U.S. economy can avoid recession and support global demand.
ERDOGAN SCHEDULE
President Tayyip Erdogan will speak in the parliamentary group meeting of his Ak Party (0900 GMT).
ENERGY MINISTER
Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar will attend to a conference on clean and renewable energy (1400 GMT).
DISCORD BAN
Turkey has blocked access to instant messaging platform Discord following a court decision, the country's infotech regulator said on Wednesday.
