CHINA WORRIES HIT EUROPE, AGAIN

European auto stocks <.SXAP. are down nearly 3% in the first hour of trading, luxury .STXLUXP is off 2%, it must be another day of worries about Chinese economic growth.

It's a slightly more nuanced one, as onshore Chinese blue chips .CSI300 rose 0.16% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index .HSI gained 1.1%, but the latter has a lot to do with domestic property .HSNP given Hong Kong's base rate moves in lockstep with the Fed's, than anything else.

Worrying investors in China-exposed European stocks was Mercedes-Benz MBGn.DE cutting its full-year profit margin target for the second time in less than two months, joining a growing number of rivals that are blaming a weakening Chinese car market, the world's largest.

Not surprisingly, Mercedes shares are down 6.7% at the bottom of the STOXX 600.

On top of that, China unexpectedly left benchmark lending rates unchanged at the monthly fixing on Friday, confounding market expectations that were primed for a decline after the Federal Reserve delivered an outsized interest-rate cut earlier this week.

In the bigger picture, the STOXX 600 is down 0.3% .STOXX paring some of its substantial gain the day before, but still set for a weekly rise. That picture holds true for most national benchmarks too.

In Britain, a difficult blocktrade has left Doc Martens DOCS.L down substantially, off nearly 15%.
