XM continues to partner with the UNHCR in support of the National Emergency Response Mechanism (NERM) that protects unaccompanied refugee children in Greece. In March 2022, more than 6,000 children entered Greece due to the Ukrainian crisis, making NERM’s efforts even more important.

NERM provides a 24/7 telephone hotline that receives referrals about unaccompanied children living in precarious conditions. It is available in multiple languages including Ukrainian and Russian.

After a child is traced, the team approaches them to provide food, medical care, and any other help they might need. A child is placed in an emergency shelter for up to 3 weeks where social workers develop a plan tailored to their best interest. Afterwards, they are transferred to long-term accommodation where the plan is put into action.

XM continues to support this important service with donations as part of their wider efforts to make the world a better place for those who were forced to flee their homes.
