To celebrate Women’s month in August we continued our ongoing partnership with Reach for a Dream to empower two little girls, Anna and Musa.

Every month XM contributes to the Reach for a Dream Foundation to support the dreams of little children living with life-altering health conditions in South Africa.

This was an opportunity our female employees wanted to take to empower the young girls who were chosen to receive a gift. The goal was to show them that the dreams they carry in their hearts can come true and to inspire them to build a bright future for themselves.

We met up with Musa and Anna, and asked them who they want to be when they grow up and what would make their day brighter.

Musa, 16 years old

Musa is a confident young lady, despite living with relapsed leukemia, who enjoys going to school and dreams of becoming a doctor one day because she loves helping people. She has always wanted a laptop for her schoolwork and to help her learn. We knew Musa loves playing games and spending time at Grand West, so we asked her to meet us there.

The girl met the team from XM with her mum and two siblings, and they had a blast playing games and enjoying lunch at Musa’s favorite restaurant. Musa’s was shocked and overwhelmed with joy when we gave her our gift – a brand new laptop that she had always dreamed of. She and her family were full of gratitude for what XM and the foundation had done.

Anna, 10 years old

Anna is an energetic, sweet little girl of 10, who lives with fanconi anaemia. She loves TV and karate movies and sees herself teaching a classroom full of kids just like herself one day. We met Anna and her family at Canal Walk to have fun at the arcade games, and Anna loved every moment of the day, especially the racing car and dancing games. She also taught us some new dance steps which we can’t wait to try out on the dance floor!

We gave her the tickets won from for the games she played so she could trade them for sweets. While she and her family were enjoying the spread of donuts, we surprised her by giving her the mobile phone she always wanted. Anna was so stunned she forgot how to speak for a minute. Her face was pure joy and is the reason why reaching out with a helping hand is so fulfilling. Her gorgeous little smile will live on in our hearts.

Our contributions to the Reach for a Dream Foundation in South Africa are part of our wider program of helping people around the world wherever we can.
